So Monday was a little difficult. I had been thinking a lot about Dad and then this Elder was wearing aftershave that smelled similar to his Stetson Black, and I was flustered with the language it was really bad. I was feeling better after a long night of praying and trying to sleep, but I felt a need to get a blessing. So I asked Elder Warren (the redhead in the photos I've sent) if he would give me a blessing after Gym if I was still feeling bad. Well I still wasn't feeling 100% so During our Daily Planning, all four of the Elders laid their hands on my head and Elder Warren gave me a very amazing blessing. I began crying when he spoke my name. I was happy to hear my actual name, but also because I could tell it wasn't him talking, it was the spirit. He told me Heavenly Father loves me, he reminded me I could go to Him with all of my problems. He blessed me with comfort and with the ability to learn the language. He reminded me of all the people who care about me and that they are there for me. I have never been so touched by a blessing. I mean I have at times where I have been set apart, but never before have I felt so strongly about the power of the priesthood, the power of the blessings, and the truthfulness of the church. Elder Warren offered if there was anything I needed I could ask him, so I plan to get another blessing before I leave, which is MONDAY! OH MY GOODNESS! haha. I just got my flight info And I am so excited! (Leaving the Mexico city MTC for El Salvador).
We constantly need to be asking ourselves what can I do to make the scriptures have more importance in my life or make me a better person etc. I think it is awesome that you are working on studying your scriptures! Just remember if you don't have enough time to read your scriptures you're busier than the Lord intended you to be. I think any effort is amazing so good for you! I have been reading in DyC and I love it. I have never been so proud of my decision to serve until recently when I started reading Doctrina y Covenios. Seriously so amazing!
I am SO glad it (letter for my sister Rachel) arrived on her birthday I was worried. I thought the picture was a little cheesy but funny at the same time. And Yay for Mariah! That's so awesome! I so wish I could go through the temple here! I hope to go in El Salvador! I am so proud of you for going often! And please send me some (homemade stromboli)! Haha. That would be so delicious. But I still do like the food, except they feed us so much meat it's almost disgusting. For breakfast I eat Frosted Flakes or peanutbutter toast because I can't stand how much meat, and the eggs, they serve.
Studies are going good. I am coming along with the language. I think I am doing okay. I think I need to work a little harder at memorizing words for my lessons. El Plan de Salvacion is really hard to do in Spanish! Thank you so much! I just know how hard it is to live with a father who isn't into the whole church thing. Thank you so much!
The cookies were so good! THANK YOU! You really didn't have to send me anything, but I loved it!
Package ideas: Conference issue!
I was told pictures of crosses and Jesus and Mary on packages does work. A girl in my district had a brother serving in Mexico and that's what they did. Never had a problem.
This week...
I have been running half a mile daily besides yesterday and today. The altitude is not god for me to run in so I can only do the half mile in like 10 minutes. Which is really sad. But I think I will do better in El Salvador. Thank goodness.
Our branch president's son came to sacrament meeting last week with his daughter Emma. I about died! He made her blow kisses at me and bat her eyes! So stinkning cute! The she gave me hand shakes, knuckle bump and a high five! Too cute. Her name is Emma and she's 18 months! Too cute!
There is this new teacher who is seriously so cool. He's been back for four months from his mission in Guatamala. He got so excited when he heard about my mission. He was like flipping out and telling me how cool it is and how awesome it is. He also thinks that me and my comp. are some of the better Spanish speakers in our district! Go us!
I also met a Latino from El Salvador which was cool.
I got to go soon. I love you and You're amazing!
Praying for you always.
Siempre, tu hija,
Hermana Mims
