My Easter was pretty good. As for traditions here it's very weird. On Good Friday they close EVERYTHING! The stores, restaurants, government buildings and everything. They have a procession of all these Catholics walking slowly up and down the streets carrying things and make random stops to preach... this is actually common in all of Central America. Then Holy Saturday EVERYONE is drunk. And there is a huge beach party with a lot of youths and dancing... and drinking. Resurrection Sunday... yet again. Beach party, music and dancing... and drinking. Then Easter Monday just another excuse for buildings to shut down and everyone to go out and drink and party. But the traditional food here is something called a cross bun. It's a type of bread that is sweet... kind of like cinnamon bread. And it has a cross on top. I think they are pretty good. But the other sisters didn't care that much for them.
I LOVED CONFERENCE! I LOVED THE MACHETE ABOUT TEXTING DURING SACRAMENT! I LOVED THE FOCUS ON FAMILIES (which made me a little baggy JK JK)! I LOVE THE PROPHET! Okay... i think I have expressed myself fairly well. My favorites were...
Linda K. Burton... the start of her talk was just precious!
Dallin H. Oaks... Don't text or play video games during the sacrament.
L. Whitney Clayton... you have a choice
David A. Bednar... Fear is dispelled by faith.
Dale G. Renlund... I'm a saint.
President Monson... TEMPLES!
Kevin W. Pearson... just everything.
For all four sessions... we had like a combined of maybe 60...maybe. No one comes. Only to the Sunday morning did people legit come.I'm sad Matt didn't get to watch it.
Why are the house sitting? Where is Vickie and Rick? I'm glad you shared a little with Matt about the temple. I think with work... patience, prayer, fasting, and a good set of obedient Elders that can connect to him will do the trick. I also recently sent a letter. It should be there soon. I hope the slight machete I gave him will be a small kick in the tush to get things moving. :)
Things here in Corozal have been good! This weekend the work was slow due to crazy Easter parties and General Conference. But I really have enjoyed this weekend. Even though my bike chain kept popping off and we have hardly taught or found anyone. It was very spiritually recharging... even though a bit stressful. We were able to have 24 lessons with Less actives/Recent converts and 22 lessons to non members. So we're doing alright. But I'm excited for this week to have good strong lessons, not interrupted by having to do something/baking/children/etc. So yeah... that's my week.
1.my hair is getting LONG!
2. How far can you get into the ocean until it is considered swimming...?
